Robert T. Bartlett Jr. grew up in Northampton, MA, and currently shares his time between Hatfield, MA, and Florida. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 20, and did his basic and advanced training at Fort Jackson, SC. Bob began his year’s tour in Vietnam in July 1969 as a combat infantryman, and was located in both Thau Thien Province and Gia Dinh Province (Saigon Capital District).
He served with Company D, 2nd Battalion, 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division at the beginning of his tour, and then served with Company B, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.
Bob received an honorable discharge from the Army with the rank of Sgt. E-5. He has been a member of the Hatfield American Legion Post 344 for 30 years, the Disabled American Veterans for five years, and he volunteers at the V.A Medical Center in Leeds, MA, the V.A. Clinic in Viera, FL, and the Honor Flight Network as a guardian.
