Fifty Years Later

HATFIELD VIETNAM WAR VETERANS SHARE THEIR STORIES

These young people did their part during the Vietnam War to serve their country.

But when they got back, no one wanted to hear about it. And the more time passed, the less they wanted to say.

Fifty years is long enough.

We wanted to capture Hatfield's Vietnam veterans' stories, in their own words, before it was too late. What was it like to serve in country as an 18 to 21 year old? What was it like to be a young nurse treating soldiers air lifted out?

What do they remember about their jobs, living conditions and the food? What perspective have they gained in the half century since, some living with disabilities as a result of the war?

Note: T
his Collection includes stories and language that some may consider to be graphic or disturbing and may not be suitable for all listeners.

Many of the stories and images you will find here have never before been shared outside veterans' circles. We hope you find them as fascinating and as moving as we did.
